Q&A: installing blue pearl granite vanity top with white cabinet. What color ceramic tile would should I use?

November 4th, 2011 1 comment

Question by Matthew H: installing blue pearl granite vanity top with white cabinet. What color ceramic tile would should I use?
I am building a new home and need to choose tile flooring to coordinate with the vanity and cabinet selections in the bathroom. I am planning to use white vanity with blue pearl granite (looks dark gray with silver specks) top. What ceramic tile color would work with this combo?

Best answer:

Answer by jettesimone
the home building stores usually have design catalogs that accompany their products, and in the pictures there’s usually a coordinating tile that goes with vanity and cabinet selections.
without seeing any pics, though, i might go with the blue pearl granite for tile floors rather than white. (i currently have white tile floors and they’re heck to clean). or if the blue pearl granite is too dark, i’d pick out one of the medium colors in the tile. keeping the color scheme in any room to within 3-4 colors ensures a calm, sophisticated look.

Q&A: What color would go best with blue grey carpet?

October 31st, 2011 2 comments

Question by carverbrittanys: What color would go best with blue grey carpet?
I need to recarpet a room that adjoins a room that has blue/grey carpet. What is the best color to do the new room? Can I also do blue in there, but maybe a darker blue? Would beige/tan look dumb?

Best answer:

Answer by purple_sakura_fairy
Really you should go by the color of the wall in the room you are re carpeting, the next rooms carpet isn’t a factor, (i assume that you will have a threshold of some kind (a metal or wood strip over the two carpets joining seam?))

What shade of blue would look best in my wedding?

October 23rd, 2011 3 comments

Question by kaye: What shade of blue would look best in my wedding?
I want to have my wedding at night in August. I want my colors to be blue and yellow. I am really stuck between which two shades of blue. There is a darker almost navy color blue and then a lighter shade of blue. The other shade isn’t really sky blue but it is not dark. I almost thought the darker shade of blue might be really pretty in the dark.

Best answer:

Answer by keflo
my friend just had a wedding and used navy blue. it was an outdoor wedding and just absolutly goregous. I dont think the light blue would do your wedding justice.

What is the genotype of a blue-flowered plant and what gametes would it produce as a result of meiosis?

October 12th, 2011 Comments off

Question by Indre: What is the genotype of a blue-flowered plant and what gametes would it produce as a result of meiosis?
The full question sounds like this:

Most individuals of a certain wild flower have white petals, but a few are blue. Crosses have shown that the blue color is due to a recessive allele. Use “W” for white and “w” for blue.

What is the genotype of a blue-flowered plant and what gametes would it produce as a result of meiosis?

Best answer:

Answer by phoenixshade
The blue flowered plant has a genotype of ww. It only produces w-type gametes.

What would the night sky look like close to the core of the galaxy?

October 5th, 2011 8 comments

Question by Silent: What would the night sky look like close to the core of the galaxy?
I’m trying to imagine what life would be like on a hypothetical planet orbiting a star close to or in the “bulge” at the center of the galaxy.

It’s my understanding that the stars are much more densely packed in that area. Would the night sky then be significantly brighter? Would you be able to see any other stars in the daytime?

Obviously all of this is pretty vague and hypothetical, but any ideas would be welcome.
TomR93, I’ve never heard of that concept before. Can you offer some evidence to support it?

Best answer:

Answer by dammit249
The sky would undoubtedly be brighter.
There would be also a lot of danger, as more stars can go supernova, making the sky even brighter and eventually be a threat.
The Hubble telescope recently discovered a double star system with a least one planet orbiting one or both of them, in that case the night sky won’t last long.

How would the sky appear if all the stars had the same brightness as our Sun?

Question by Christopher D: How would the sky appear if all the stars had the same brightness as our Sun?
Hi guys,

I have found this question in a website. It says “How would the sky appear if all the stars possess the same brightness as the Sun. But keeping the distances the same. So distant ones will be faint!! Not as bright as the sun is during daytime!!”
Also how it will like if all the stars were very very small and faint?

Best answer:

Answer by Dreamer4u
basically the same, since the average brightness of a star,is quite like our own sun

What would the sky look like from the perspective of a black hole?

September 23rd, 2011 3 comments

Question by yerfavoritefiddler: What would the sky look like from the perspective of a black hole?
The current Smithsonian mag has an article that says the sky would be full of the stars in orbit around the black hole. But wouldn’t the sky be full of pure light, pulled in by the black hole’s gravity? So what looks black from the outside would be full of light from the inside.

Best answer:

Answer by Billy Butthead
If a black hole could exist and you could stand on the surface the sky would look the same as from the surface of any other celestial body.
It could be orbiting a massive star itself.

What would the sky look like at the center of the galaxy?

September 19th, 2011 4 comments

Question by Jeffrey K: What would the sky look like at the center of the galaxy?
What would the night sky look like from a planet near the center of our galaxy? I assume there would be many more stars than the sky on earth has. How bright would those stars be? As bright as Venus is in our sky? Brighter? Can you describe what it might look like?

Best answer:

Answer by zampa_cotj
It would most likely be about as bright as a full moon night here , again depending on how close you are to the center.

If you watch the movie Contact (not saying its good or bad movie here) but the image I would get is like in the end when she reaches the planet.

What colorful fish would go well with these?

July 23rd, 2011 3 comments

Question by Getting Closer……: What colorful fish would go well with these?
I have a 20 gallon freshwater tank. I have a female betta, leopard danio, sunburst platy, yellow gourami, dwarf gourami, and a cory in there. (They equal up to about 8 inches.)They all get along really well, no fighting at all. I would like all my fish to be bright and colorful. Any suggestions of non-aggressive bright colored fish that would go well with these? I will be adding more fish slowly.

What kind of fish would go best in a 29 gallon tank?

July 8th, 2011 6 comments

Question by …: What kind of fish would go best in a 29 gallon tank?
I just bought a 29 gl fish tank kit, and I want to get fish but I don’t know what kind. Im looking for bright colored fish so that my tank will be colorful. Im also looking for fish that live for quite a while (I know, it probably depends on how well I take care of them). And I don’t want anything that will get huge, maybe like 5 inches at the most. Ive had batas before but now I want a big tank. Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Adrienne
south american dwarf cichlids. but only if you have enough experience, their kinda hard to take care of them. search them on websites, their amazingg fish, and very colorful. but i also suggest to get a school of non cichlids, it makes them relax. best of luckk!

Q&A: What fish or fishes would be good to finish off the tank?

June 30th, 2011 3 comments

Question by bakura1980: What fish or fishes would be good to finish off the tank?
I have 20 gallon community tank with a HOB filter rated for 20 gallons and a sponge filter rated for 40 gallons. Right now there are 6 neon tetras and 6 zebra danios. What else would work in there? My office manager wants a larger fish or fishes that would be more visible than the smaller fish. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Best answer:

Answer by ///mi>>chell <
get 1-2 gouramies.

i have 4 dwarf gouramies.
they all are great.
they are beautiful and add some real color.

heres a pic of one http://www.aqua-fish.net/imgs/fish/colisa-lalia.jpg

they only get up to 2 in a half inches.

i had my 4 in a 30 with 8 neons,6 guppies,and them./

you could also get some very bright guppies.but they only get up yto like a inch.

good luck!

BTW goldfish are cold water there temps are.60-74.

http://www.elmersaquarium.com/c106community11goldfish.htm

you have tropical your fish temps should be between 78-82

so do not put a goldfish.they should not be mixed.

p.s. add some salt to your tank.even fresh water fish need salt.just buy some at petsmart and add as much as it says.ussally its a tablespoon per 5 gallons.

even look at the fish lables at petsmart each one says needs salt.
and it makes your fish brighter,.

Q&A: How would you recommend to go fly fishing?

May 21st, 2011 3 comments

Question by Thebomb: How would you recommend to go fly fishing?
I am a beginner in flyfishing. What method would you recommend. I tried the false cast already and was okay at it. What method is the easiest for beginners and could you give me links or give me instructions on how to do it?

Thanks

Best answer:

Answer by Chadd
Well, the false cast isn’t really just a method, it’s a mainstay of fly casting. The false cast enables you to adjust your distance, it’s how you aim your cast, and it can help to dry out your fly if you’re using a dry. Beginner or not, you have to master the basic cast if you want to fly fish.

The roll cast is also important, but I’m not going to even try to describe it. It’s best for situations where your back-cast area is not clear, and when you have a lot of unfriendly wind. There are many other variations on the basic cast, and these are handy for different conditions and settings, but you must be proficient in basic casting before you move on to those.

There are a number of casting videos on YouTube. Do a search on fly casting and watch a few. Some are pretty good, some suck. You can also get books and DVDs from your public library on fly casting, though I have to say that learning to cast from a book like learning to speak Spanish from someone who only speaks in sign language. Stick to DVDs for casting instruction. Sometimes schools, angling clubs, or other organizations have fly casting seminars. My chapter of Trout Unlimited has a couple free seminars each year. Check around your area for opportunities like that — the best way to learn casting is personal instruction. If you have some extra cash, consider a class.

i live near Thomson IL about an hour and a half east and i want to now wat kind of flies i should get before spring comes so i can go out and hit some of the spots i fish…. we dont have very clear fast moving waters for trout so i would like to go for carp, bass, and panfish please help.

Answer by Backwater Charlie
At Cabela’s, you can buy a package of flies that include fourteen of the most popular carp flies, along with a book entitled “Carp on the fly”, which is all about fly-fishing for these freshwater bonefish. This will cost $ 40, but without the book, it costs $ 30. I’d opt to get the book as it will help you catch many more fish than without it. Bass Pro Shops also carries packs of carp flies for $ 25. Here’s the link to Cabela’s carp flies — http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0037197319326a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all_NYR&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&Nty=1&hasJS=true&nyr=1&Ne=2510&Ntt=carp&N=3530&_D%3Asort=+&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&Go.x=0

Cabela’s also sells bass flies in packs like the carp ones. These are less expensive than carp flies, but they’ll run you anywhere from $ 15 to $ 30 for a 9-pack. Here is the link to one of the packages — http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0044485314166a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=bass+flies&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&Go.x=0&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1

Here’s a kit from Bass Pro Shops for panfish — http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_53805____SearchResults

Good luck fly-fishing on the idea!
