Q&A: What color walls go best with a light blue accent wall?

November 6th, 2011 1 comment

Question by star: What color walls go best with a light blue accent wall?
I painted a light blue accent wall in my living room, and can’t decide what color to paint the others. I thought tan, but now am thinking another shade of blue. The color on the accent wall is light blue, maybe a little blue green. Help!

Best answer:

Answer by Hellocurls22
Be brave and try browns. It will make your accent wall pop out. You don’t want to hide it, you want to highlighted. The whole point of an accent wall is to make it different than the others. If you stick with other shades of blue then pretty much you are going to blend it, so then there will be no point for an accent wall.

Question by greatloot: What alcoholic drink is blue and bubbles?
I recently saw an alcoholic drink that looked like blue cool-aid with dry ice in it. It was a vibrant blue color with white vapors pouring out over the top like you would expect to see from dry ice. Anyone know what it is and how it is made?

Q&A: installing blue pearl granite vanity top with white cabinet. What color ceramic tile would should I use?

November 4th, 2011 1 comment

Question by Matthew H: installing blue pearl granite vanity top with white cabinet. What color ceramic tile would should I use?
I am building a new home and need to choose tile flooring to coordinate with the vanity and cabinet selections in the bathroom. I am planning to use white vanity with blue pearl granite (looks dark gray with silver specks) top. What ceramic tile color would work with this combo?

Best answer:

Answer by jettesimone
the home building stores usually have design catalogs that accompany their products, and in the pictures there’s usually a coordinating tile that goes with vanity and cabinet selections.
without seeing any pics, though, i might go with the blue pearl granite for tile floors rather than white. (i currently have white tile floors and they’re heck to clean). or if the blue pearl granite is too dark, i’d pick out one of the medium colors in the tile. keeping the color scheme in any room to within 3-4 colors ensures a calm, sophisticated look.

What is the advantages of living in a blue collar working class dominated town?

November 3rd, 2011 Comments off

Question by questioner: What is the advantages of living in a blue collar working class dominated town?
My wife’s family lives in Erie Pa which is a real blue collar working class town. Crime is low and most people are white. Most people work in retail or factories and do not have a college degree. Hardly anyone has a professional office job. It has a unique blue collar culture.

The family loves it in Erie, because it is a blue collar town.

Do you see any advantage in living in a town dominated by blue collar folks?

Best answer:

Answer by CATATTACK
In a society where material wealth is equitably distributed and not a focal point, social cohesion (social capital) is increased. With increased social capital comes increased security, health, and general well-being. Disadvantages might include lack of diversity (social, economic, political), lack of education, and lack of aspiration.

What wall color goes with royal blue counted tops and maple cabinets?

November 3rd, 2011 1 comment

Question by Lindsey O: What wall color goes with royal blue counted tops and maple cabinets?
We just purchase a new home and the previous owner did a beautiful kitchen remodel but put in royal blue countertops. Strapped for funds we cannot replace them so are going to make the best of it. My question is what to paint the walls? Royal blue counters maple cabinets and flooring and a partial blue tiled backsplash. The house is open concept.

Best answer:

Answer by Sandyspacecase
I think kind of a cream color would look great. You really need to look at the samples before you buy as every paint manufacturers cream, or “Off White” is different. Some have a yellowish tint to them, some have more of a brown. Look also at their color chips that have very pale colors. I would like to say an antique white, but like I said every brand is different. A nice very light tan cream color.

What’s the difference between dark blue storm clouds and white illuminated blue clouds at night?

November 2nd, 2011 Comments off

Question by : What’s the difference between dark blue storm clouds and white illuminated blue clouds at night?
White blue clouds turn orange at night, but dark blue storm clouds turn??? Are they orange, I noticed there were some blue dark clouds and light blue illuminated white clouds, I saw the white turn orange and the blue turn blackish red. when the blue vanished the cloud turned orange. What color are dark blue storm clouds in winter in the city.

Best answer:

Answer by Robert
It just depends on how the sun or moon is illuminating the clouds.
During the day, storm clouds appear dark because the sunlight is being blocked from illuminating them, so they appear dark during the day. The tops of clouds like this appear white because the sun is illuminating the tops of them.
At night, the moon shining on clouds can cause them to be white, gray, or light blue. If it is shortly after sunset or shortly before sunrise, due to refractive bending of the sun’s rays through the atmosphere, clouds can show up as dim orange or even red or purple.

What is the best Blue tooth software and where can I get it?

November 1st, 2011 Comments off

Question by BEB: What is the best Blue tooth software and where can I get it?
I am looking to download some Blue Tooth software so that I can update my phone via blue tooth. Can anyone help me out?

Best answer:

Answer by Denno
Once you buy the Bluetooth dongle (the USB thingie), you’ll be given its driver and software CD. Do you have the dongle already? If you have then you need to download ITS drivers and software (they are specific for each brand e.g software for BlueSoleil dongles won’t work on other dongles like Samsung). Whichever you choose, don’t buy the Bluesoleil dongle, you’ll be disappointed.
All the best.

Q&A: What color would go best with blue grey carpet?

Question by carverbrittanys: What color would go best with blue grey carpet?
I need to recarpet a room that adjoins a room that has blue/grey carpet. What is the best color to do the new room? Can I also do blue in there, but maybe a darker blue? Would beige/tan look dumb?

Best answer:

Answer by purple_sakura_fairy
Really you should go by the color of the wall in the room you are re carpeting, the next rooms carpet isn’t a factor, (i assume that you will have a threshold of some kind (a metal or wood strip over the two carpets joining seam?))

Was Enron considered a blue chip before its stock bottomed out almost instantly?

October 31st, 2011 1 comment

Question by kevster1020: Was Enron considered a blue chip before its stock bottomed out almost instantly?
Also, is it only the DJIA that gives a company blue chip status? Or are there other corporations considered to be blue chip besides those 30 on the DJIA?

Best answer:

Answer by A5150Ylee
Enron was considered a blue chip. It was in the top 50 companies of the world as measured by market capitalization before the fraud stories came out.

The term “Blue chip” is a little vague on the criteria. Typically it refers to companies that are worth the most and earn the most. So with thousands of companies out there, I’m not really sure to say that just 30 make blue chip status.

Certainly companies such as Ford and Procter & Gamble are considered blue chips even if they aren’t in the Dow Industrials.

A Pinwheel in X-rays (A large spiral galaxy about 25 million light years away in the constellation Ursa Major.)
blue

Description: This Chandra image of M101 is one of the longest exposures ever obtained of a spiral galaxy in X-rays. The point-like sources include binary star systems containing black holes and neutron stars, and the remains of supernova explosions. Other sources of X-rays include hot gas in the arms of the galaxy and clusters of massive stars. These X-ray observations of M101 will be used to establish a valuable X-ray profile of a galaxy similar to the Milky Way. This will help astronomers better understand the evolutionary paths that produce black holes, and provide a baseline for interpreting the observations of distant galaxies.

Creator/Photographer: Chandra X-ray Observatory

The Chandra X-ray Observatory, which was launched and deployed by Space Shuttle Columbia on July 23, 1999, is the most sophisticated X-ray observatory built to date. The mirrors on Chandra are the largest, most precisely shaped and aligned, and smoothest mirrors ever constructed. Chandra is helping scientists better understand the hot, turbulent regions of space and answer fundamental questions about origin, evolution, and destiny of the Universe. The images Chandra makes are twenty-five times sharper than the best previous X-ray telescope. Q&A: how do I remove blue dye stains from a light cream colored suede shoe?

Question by glasshouseburning: how do I remove blue dye stains from a light cream colored suede shoe?
The blue dye from my new pair of jeans rubbed onto my shoes and now there is blue dye smeared on my shoe. I’ve tried using a spray can of suede cleaner with the brush and it has done absolutely nothing. Any other suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by DrDee
Ughh… I really feel for you! I would take the shoe to a *good* dry cleaner who specializes in cleaning suede and leather. Most of them are miracle workers, and of course.. they have access to professional strength products!

In any case, that’s what I would do… It might be your only hope of saving your shoes…

Best of luck… hope it works!

Description: Although Thomas Smillie, the Smithsonian’s first photographer and curator of photography, used images to catalog much of the institution’s physical object collection, he also extensively photographed pages of books on topics of personal interest to him as a way of copying the material for future use. Smillie also photographed letters and documents as a method of preserving the Smithsonian’s records.

Creator/Photographer: Thomas Smillie
Birth Date: 1843
Death Date: 1917

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1843, Thomas William Smillie immigrated to the United States with his family when he five years old. After studying chemistry and medicine at Georgetown University, he took a job as a photographer at the Smithsonian Institution, where he stayed for nearly fifty years until his death in 1917. Smillie’s duties and accomplishments at the Smithsonian were vast: he documented important events and research trips, photographed the museum’s installations and specimens, created reproductions for use as printing illustrations, performed chemical experiments for Smithsonian scientific researchers, and later acted as the head and curator of the photography lab. Smillie’s documentation of each Smithsonian exhibition and installation resulted in an informal record of all of the institution’s art and artifacts. In 1913 Smillie mounted an exhibition on the history of photography to showcase the remarkable advancements that had been made in the field but which he feared had already been forgotten.

Description: Powwows are large social gatherings of Native Americans who follow traditional dances started centuries ago by their ancestors, and which continually evolve to include contemporary aspects. These events of drum music, dancing, singing, artistry and food, are attended by Natives and non-Natives, all of whom join in the dancing and take advantage of the opportunity to see old friends and teach the traditional ways to a younger generation. During the National Powwow, the audience see dancers in full regalia compete in several dance categories, including Men and Women’s Golden Age (ages 50 and older); Men’s Fancy Dance, Grass and Traditional (Northern and Southern); Women’s Jingle Dress, Fancy Shawl, and Traditional (Northern and Southern); Teens (13-17); Juniors (6-12) and Tiny Tots (ages 5 and younger). The drum groups are the heart of all powwows and provide the pulsating and thunderous beats that accompany a dancer’s every movement. The powwow is led by three "host drums" that showcase three distinct styles of singing (Northern, Southern and contemporary) and represent the best examples of each style. The drum contest highlights groups of 10 to 12 members each, and they sing traditional family songs that are passed down orally from one generation to the next. The National Museum of the American Indian sponsored the National Powwow in 2002, 2005, and 2007 as a way of presenting to the public the diversity and social traditions of contemporary Native cultures.

Q&A: How to know if a cat is blue gene carrier?

October 27th, 2011 1 comment

Question by Kitty kit: How to know if a cat is blue gene carrier?
I am breeding goldens and silvers and I recently bought a blue golden female. In my golden male background it appears a blue chinchilla. Does it means that he is carrying blue gene? Or how to know if he carries blue?

Best answer:

Answer by Crystal
You really should not be breeding cats if you are coming to yahoo answers for help. It is mainly teenage kids on here that give idiotic answers or ones they think are funny.

If you are serious about breeding, you should be in contact with an established breeder for help. Possibly the breeder you got the golden male from.

What is the best way to wear blue eyemakeup?

October 27th, 2011 3 comments

Question by 1234: What is the best way to wear blue eyemakeup?
I have blue eyes and blonde hair and want to try wearing light blue eyeshadow and light blue eyeliner to make the color of my eyes really pop.
How can I make sure that it doesn’t come across as skanky/cheap/tacky?
Also, do you match your eyemakeup to your outfit, or do you think pastel colored eyemakeup (like pink and blue) can be worn with basically anything?

Thanks!

Answer by Haley Grace
It would be hard to not make it come across as trashy because blue eyeshadow is like the queen of that but for blue eyes try brown shades they actually make blue eyes pop even more than blue itself!
