Sky Movies has announced a weekend of free movies allowing all Sky TV customers to watch premium Sky Movies content, free of charge from 6pm on Friday the 30 October until 6am on Monday the 2 November.

Sky Movies Screen 1 and Screen 1 HD (http://packages.sky.com/hd/ ) will be available for the duration of the weekend giving all Sky TV (http://packages.sky.com/see/ ) subscribers the chance to watch their favourite movies uninterrupted, unedited and all in glorious high definition.

The Free Weekend Pass will allow viewers to watch a selection of current Sky Movies favourites such as Atonement, Enchanted and The Incredible Hulk as well as all time classics like The Usual Suspects, The Godfather and Sleepless in Seattle. All the movies in the weekend will be available in both standard and high definition.

“I’m not sure if we ever anticipated this level of participation,” says co-owner David Lee. Lee reports that the company received over 10,000 requests for custom lanyards needed for youth programs, animal shelters, churches, schools and even Special Olympics. “We were overwhelmed by how many organizations needed lanyard donations. That’s why our company wants to let others know we are continuing to contribute as much as we can,” says the co-owner.

While one million may seem like a lot of lanyards to give away, the online company sold nearly eight million last year. However, Lee says nearly 10% of those orders contained misprinted or overrun lanyards. “Customers adjust their orders or there are accidental misprints…changes are made all the time,” says Lee. “We think we’ve found a great way to turn these mistakes into opportunities that aid other organizations.”

The program started last year when Lee noticed one of his customer service representatives asked to use some of the excess lanyards for her church fundraiser. His initial reaction was to stop her from walking out of the warehouse with free product. But he soon realized his employee had a great idea. “We literally had thousands of extra custom lanyards lying around that we couldn’t sell and could give to someone who needed them,” Lee explains.

Lee then gave his customer service rep the responsibility of submitting an action plan for how the company could use the excess lanyards. She timidly asked her employer if it was possible to donate one million lanyards to worthy causes. Lee approved the 18-month project that was soon named Million Lanyard Give.

Now, after 18 months of charitable donations, Lee reflects on the program. “Although we didn’t quite reach our goal of one million, we are encouraged that we have helped so many organizations,” he says. “We have now donated printed lanyards to schools, churches, charities, and have donated close to 100,000 custom pet collars to animal shelters.”

USDA Announces Funding To Improve Public Access for Hunting, Fishing, and other Recreation Opportunities and to …
WASHINGTON, Jan. 19, 2011– Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced that an additional $ 8 million is available to create or expand existing public access programs or provide incentives to increase access to hunting and fishing and to improve wildlife habitat on enrolled lands.
